Altrusa Club of Dallas Foundation, inc. is happy to announce that the recipient of the 2020 Military Scholarship is Elizabeth DellaDonna, from Cleveland, Ohio. Elizabeth enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2013 and upon completing boot camp, Marine combat training, and Military Occupational Specialty school, she received orders to the Marine Barracks in Washington D.C.. While serving in this post, Elizabeth was honored to host parades for two Medal of Honor recipients, and President Barack Obama.
Elizabeth was reassigned to Fort Myer/Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia, where she graduated honor grad from advanced Military Occupational Specialty school, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and trained Marine Corps officer candidates. In 2017 Elizabeth was honorably discharged from active duty to purse her dreams of becoming a registered nurse.
In pursuit of her nursing dreams, Elizabeth is currently completing her first semester of nursing school at Texas Women’s University, Dallas. She writes “Being a U. S. Marine allowed me to serve the country at the highest level I was capable of, while becoming a nurse allows me to continue in a profession dedicated to service of others. After I graduate nursing school, I would like work at the VA hospital to administer medical care to those who have selflessly served this country“. We look forward to meeting Elizabeth at a future meeting after this COVID-19 distancing has passed.
